Acting FDA Commissioner Confirms Opposition to Abortion; Regrets Past Work with Planned Parenthood
Tells Lila Rose FDA will Prioritize Review of Mifepristone

Washington, D.C. – This week, Live Action, one of the nation’s leading human rights organizations, urges the acting FDA Commissioner, Kyle Diamantas, to review the dangerous abortion pill and ultimately pull it from the market completely. During a phone conversation on Wednesday, May 13 with Founder and President, Lila Rose, Diamantas speaks to his previous involvement with Planned Parenthood.

Rose released the following comment:

“In our conversation, Kyle told me he regrets work he performed as an outside attorney for Planned Parenthood in Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando v. MMB Properties. He shared that he was assigned to the case by his law firm, performed work on it, and ultimately regretted his involvement because of his moral opposition to abortion. He then asked his superiors to remove him from the case. He said that he is pro-life and cares deeply about the pro-life cause.

I also raised the urgent crisis of the abortion pill. Nearly 11% of women who take mifepristone experience serious adverse events, and the abortion pill has killed millions of American babies. Diamantas told me that reviewing the abortion pill is a top priority for him and the administration.

We and millions of Americans across the nation who value the right to life expect the FDA to take serious action to protect mothers and their preborn children.”

Chemical abortion now accounts for 65% of all abortions in the nation. Thirty-percent of those abortion pills are sent via telemedicine without safety protocols such as in-person dispensing. The lack of FDA requirements surrounding mifepristone have enabled abortions without physician supervision, heightening health risks to women, and aiding abusers in coerced abortions.
