Woman shares abortion pill horror: 'I almost died'
Live Action founder and president Lila Rose recently spoke with Shanyce, who was given the abortion pill at Planned Parenthood and nearly died as a result.
Shanyce went to Planned Parenthood for a chemical abortion.
After taking the abortion pill, she became septic, went into a coma, and almost died.
She said she had no idea what to expect when taking the pills or that the abortion pill regimen could be so dangerous.
In the conversation with Rose, Shanyce recounted the horror of her chemical abortion experience. She had been nine weeks pregnant when she initially went to Planned Parenthood, but had to return after suffering complications.

"Planned Parenthood didn't do much when I went back and told them the severe pain I was in," she said. "And it was more than just a menstrual cycle cramp. The pain was really bad to the point my mom was nearly helping me turn every time I needed to turn in my sleep. And she noticed, like, okay, it's time for you to go back. So, I went to Planned Parenthood. I was in there for nearly five minutes, and they just turned me right out the door. They didn't really look. They didn't go in, check with a speculum, and they did an ultrasound. Like, okay, we don't see nothing in the ultrasound. Go ahead about your day."
Yet, her symptoms worsened and her mother insisted they go to the hospital. Shanyce explained:
I started getting a fever, throwing up, sick, and that's when they told me that I had an infection behind my uterus from the remains of the baby that was left from the abortion pill.
Shanyce went into a coma. When she woke up, doctors told her about the multiple procedures she had been through, including blood transfusions, and at first, she didn't fully understand what had happened.
"I was mad at my mom for a minute because I was just like, why would you let them do all this stuff to me?" she recalled. "But I didn't know how bad it was. So I was just mad at her for the moment, and I wasn't taking in everything that had to be done in order to save my life."
Though she survived, her life did not return to normal. Afterwards, she had continuing complications and issues that she had to fight through.
"One was having to take a year off from school. I graduated later than I anticipated and then had to change my major. So that was one issue," she said. "Having to have nurses and physical therapy and occupational therapy come to my house every day to help me do day-to-day things, like go in and out the shower, try to go up and down the steps. The nurses [were] coming to change my dressing that was on my stomach from the machine that I was attached to still. So dealing with that, even when I first got out of a coma, my mom was in there brushing my teeth. So it was just really weird. Or her wiping me after I got — it was just really weird."
Tragically, she will never be able to have children as a result of the abortion.
"I do have problems conceiving a kid now. It is harder. I still have my ovaries and my eggs left, but I'm just not able," she said, adding, "In order for them to get to the infection, they had to remove half my uterus in order to get to the infection."
Shanyce wants women to understand that the abortion industry is lying to them about the abortion pill.
"The abortion pill is not safe. Like they say, it's just as safe as Tylenol. It's not just as safe as Tylenol," she said. "The abortion pill could literally kill people. It could put people in the hospital."
In fact, the intent of the abortion pill is to kill at least one person every time it's taken.
"Don't let no one force you into taking the abortion pill," said Shanyce. "Like, if you know you want to keep the kid, or even if you don't, I'll rather them give the baby up for adoption instead of taking the abortion pill if you know you don't want to have a kid. But really, just protect the kids. Protect the babies. They do no wrong. They're innocent when it comes to this situation. And then when it comes to Planned Parenthood, I really want them gone. I really want them to be defunded. The malpractice that I went through with them was horrific. It was just bad. It was nothing just about it."
