These are the most-watched pro-life videos of all time

A video project unmasking the violence of abortion procedures has gone viral, garnering over 50 million views on Facebook and Youtube combined, and over half a million shares.

The videos, which are produced by Live Action, detail the four most prevalent abortion procedures in America. Narrated by former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino, the videos use medical animations and descriptions to portray what really happens during an abortion.

Many viewers, some of whom self-identified as “pro-choice,” changed their minds about abortion after encountering the humanity of preborn children and the inhumanity of abortion. Others who identified as “pro-life” said the videos solidified their stance against abortion.

First trimester medical abortion (pills)

During a medical abortion, a woman takes pills containing Mifepristone (RU-486) and Misoprostol (or Cytotec) to end the life of the baby.

First trimester aspiration (suction) D&C

A D&C abortion procedure is the most prevalent abortion procedure in America. During this procedure, a suction catheter is inserted into the mother’s uterus to remove the preborn child. A curette is then used to scrape the lining of the uterus to remove remaining parts.

Second trimester dilation and evacuation (D&E)

During a D&E abortion, an abortionist dilates the woman’s cervix and uses a sopher clamp to dismember the baby. A curette is then used to scrape the lining of the uterus for remaining parts, and the pieces of the child are then reassembled and accounted for.

Third trimester induction

During a third trimester induction procedure, the abortionist injects a lethal dose of digoxin into the baby’s heart or dead, causing cardiac arrest. Labor is then induced over a period of three to four days, and the woman will give birth to her child stillborn.

Live Action also took the Abortion Procedures videos to the streets, and discovered that when abortion supporters are educated about what abortion does to a child in the womb, hearts and minds change.

In a survey conducted by Live Action in May 2016, 511 self-identified “pro-choice” women ages 18-30 were shown the second trimester D&E abortion video and asked about their opinion afterwards. The survey discovered:

  • 32 percent viewed abortion “less favorably” after watching the video.

  • 30 percent said there should be more restrictions on abortion.

  • 49 percent said the videos should be shown to high school sex education classes.

  • 40 percent said that pregnant women considering abortion should see them.
