At Live Action’s first Women’s Summit: Return to Eden, held in June, pro-life OBGYN Dr. Monique Ruberu discussed how women can learn to properly care for their own health so they can be at their best to pour into the lives of others.
Key Takeaways:
- At the Live Action Women’s Summit in June, Dr. Monique Ruberu joined multiple other speakers to encourage women in being all that God has purposed them to be.
- Dr. Ruberu encouraged women to seek optimal health for their own bodies so that they can make a difference in the lives of others around them.
The Details:
Dr. Ruberu is the owner of Natural Women’s Health in Pennsylvania, where she treats women for conditions such as PMS, infertility, recurrent miscarriage, perimenopause, and more.
Created to heal
She told the women in attendance at the Summit:
You are created to heal. I think personally that the most important thing is that you have an understanding of how [God] created you, how perfectly He created you, and that every little signal that your body gives you is actually [a message] to help you to understand how to heal and how to get back to the state that He made you in.
… So much goes into this. It’s what you eat. It’s what you drink. It’s how you act. It’s how you respond to situations. It’s what sort of activities you participate in.
Dr. Ruberu said she originally obtained a “traditional medical education where we were taught to address all of the symptoms, not really address the underlying issues….” But today, she looks for the root causes to help women thrive.
She told attendees that certain things they have been conditioned to believe are their “normal” as women might not actually be normal for women — things like heavy bleeding during menstruation, and even premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
“… If you can understand what the truth is, what the normal is, then you have a chance of actually realizing, hey, something might be a little off here. And then you can see what can I do to take care of that,” she said. “So, it’s really, really, really important that you have an understanding of what’s not normal is so that you can try and do things to get back to the normal.”
Learning to ‘flourish’
She encouraged women to make practical health changes to help their bodies to “flourish,” like drinking plenty of water each day, making sure they have adequate salt intake — and even eliminating caffeine from their diets. “… [W]hen you honor your body, you honor God. You honor the creation that He made in each and every one of you,” she said.
“All the things that I’ve walked through — a broken marriage, being healed by Him, losing children in miscarriage — [have] allowed me to minister to all the women that I encounter. Everything that [God] does in your life is only to make you stronger so that you can minister to someone else. So He can use you perfectly. And in order to do that, you have to be at the healthiest state you could possibly be.”
Dr. Ruberu mentioned a new app, called NWH Cycle (as in Natural Women’s Health Cycle) for women to use to learn about “what truly is normal [and] what is abnormal.” And according to Ruberu, it’s not like apps from other groups which contain explicit and inappropriate material. Instead, it contains helpful and beneficial information.
The Bottom Line:
Dr. Ruberu encouraged women to find their unique gifts and use them courageously.
“I know that He created each and every one of you to be extremely courageous women who are going to walk out there and completely change this world,” she said. “Each and every one of you has a special gift. He created you so perfectly, and only you can accomplish the mission that He created you for. So keep at it. Be courageous.”
