Woman says pregnancy center helped her to 'detransition' after trauma
A California pregnancy resource center (PRC) is in the spotlight after helping a woman detransition and return to her biological sex, positioning its approach as one rooted in both medical care and Christian compassion.
Jessica Rose lived for seven years as a transgender man named Aden.
Her decision was influenced by a history of trauma, sexual abuse, and a fear of experiencing more pain and instability.
After dedicating her life to God, Rose sought to detransition and embrace her female body. She received help from a pregnancy resource center in California.
Jessica Rose recently went public with her story about how she found not only practical help but patient guidance from the PRC, saying staff “cared to educate and love” her through hormone reversal treatment.
For seven years, Rose lived as if she were a man, and called herself "Aden." Childhood trauma led her to believe that women inevitably suffer pain, which she sought to avoid.
She explained that witnessing her mother endure repeated pain influenced her thinking, and assumed she too would be hurt. This prompted Rose to embrace a persona that was “very macho, very mighty, very strong.”
Sexual abuse encounters, family instability, and the lack of a father figure gave rise to what Rose subsequently characterized as trauma-driven identity choices.
From the ages of 15 to 21, she was embroiled in multiple relationships with women and lived a promiscuous lifestyle. She also said she felt masculine, identified as a boy, and thought that meant she must actually be male.

Her detransition back to her biological sex and identity was linked to a deeper spiritual turning point in her life. She completely surrendered her life to Jesus Christ in 2020, and detransitioning was part of that process.
“Someone told me about the gospel. Someone told me that God loved me even though I had this attempt, even though I wasn't talking to my family and even though I was living the life I was living, that God still loved me. That changed everything,” Rose said.
Rose’s journey to the PRC reportedly began after a guest speaker at her church shared about the free medical services available through Alternatives Pregnancy Center in Sacramento. Heidi Matzke, the center’s director, told CBN News that Alternatives is more than a pregnancy center, saying it also offers free gynecological services and support for women.
Doctors at Alternatives showed Rose how to care for her female body and accompanied her through hormone reversal treatment:
When they say they are pro-gospel, pro-woman, pro-life, they helped me in that order by bringing the truth to me: God created you. He knew what you were going to do. Genuinely, Alternatives Pregnancy Center sat with me, giving me compassion, listening with me, and really teaching me about my body.
Rose is not alone in seeking to detransition. Elle Palmer, Cat Cattinson, Helena Kerschner, Chloe Cole, and others have sought help after being victimized by a predatory industry which promised them help but instead caused harm.
Women facing deep confusion require more than slogans or ideology. They need places that will tell them the truth about accepting their bodies for what they are, while also obtaining treatment with dignity, patience, and love. Pregnancy resource centers are a true lifeline for women who need support.
