FACT CHECK: Abortion is the deliberate killing of a human, not just 'ending a pregnancy'

Police investigate after body of deceased preborn baby found in Texas park
Authorities in Austin, Texas, announced Monday that the body of a "nonviable" preborn child had been found at a city park.
Though no official cause of death or exact gestational age of the child was given, the incident is among an increasing number of similar stories in which the recognizably human bodies of preborn babies have been found discarded.
The body of a "nonviable" preborn child was found in a Texas park on Monday.
Police haven't given any details as to the baby's gestational age or cause of death, but say it is not suspected to be a homicide.
There have been a number of instances in which the remains of preborn children have been found discarded, thrown away, or abandoned.
It is possible that some of these instances may be children killed by abortion, resulting from increased abortion pill use.
Austin police reported that a deceased "fetus" was found "inside a bag in a box beneath a tree" at Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Park on Monday evening.
According to CBS Austin, the Austin Police Department Homicide Unit, Austin Forensic Science Crime Scene Specialists, and the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office all responded to the scene. The death is currently being considered as suspicious but is not believed to be a homicide.
Authorities have not released any other information as to the age of the preborn child or the expected cause of death, but the investigation is ongoing.
This is not the first discovery of discarded preborn children that has led to a police investigation.
Earlier this year, the body of a preborn infant believed to have been between 13 and 15 weeks gestation was found at a South Carolina water treatment plant.
In July, a preborn baby estimated at between five and six months gestation was found "intentionally discarded" in a park in Lewisville, Texas.
Last November, the remains of a premature baby were discovered in a garbage bag buried under a pile of leaves in Brooklyn, New York.
In May 2025, the body of a child "found to be at an early stage of development and nonviable" was found in a dumpster in Ohio.
In two separate instances in 2023, the remains of preborn children were found in the pipes of Texas apartment complexes.
In many of these instances, it is impossible for investigators to know if the child died due to a miscarriage or stillbirth, was born alive and then died, or was killed via the abortion pill.
However, since the abortion pill accounts for the vast majority of abortions committed today, and since the pill is widely available without proper gestational dating, it stands to reason that some of these infant remains could be the result of an abortion.
Each abortion kills a preborn child, leaving behind that child's body. Countless women have recalled their shock and horror after taking the abortion pill and then passing the recognizable remains of a preborn child (see Live Action's 'I Saw My Baby' series). After all, seeing the dead baby is not something typically mentioned by abortionists who peddle the pill.
Often, the infant's remains are flushed down the toilet. However, if the abortion pill is taken later in pregnancy, the remains may be too large to pass.
At least one pro-abortion organization, the Reproductive Health Access Project (RHAP), instructs women to dispose of infant remains too large to flush "in the garbage with other household waste."
Live Action researcher Carole Novielli recently shared an RHAP fact sheet pertaining to abortion pill use between 14-20 weeks (well past the FDA limit of 10 weeks). This fact sheet instructs women what to do with the "contents that [they] pass" by saying:
This depends on where you live and what you prefer. If everything is small enough to flush down the toilet, you may do that.
If you are around 15-16 weeks or later, the pregnancy may be too big.
To lower legal risk, you can wrap it in many layers of plastic and place it in the garbage with other household waste.
It stands to reason that when the remains of preborn children are found discarded, thrown away, or abandoned, it is a very real possibility that these remains may be the result of abortion pill use.
Regardless of how he or she died, every child is a human being deserving of respect and dignified treatment.
