Planned Parenthood Votes pours $1M into Maine and Michigan political ads
Planned Parenthood Votes, a super PAC of Planned Parenthood, is funding an additional $1 million in digital campaigns for political candidates in Maine and Michigan.
Planned Parenthood Votes is giving another $1 million for digital campaigns in Maine and Michigan.
It had previously given $600,000 or $400,000 to ads in the same states.
The new ads will target Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) and former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.).
Collins, though a member of the Republican Party, has been a supporter of Planned Parenthood.
According to The Hill, Planned Parenthood had already invested $600,000 and $800,000 on ads in Maine and Michigan, respectively. Now it has given another $1 million to campaign ads targeting Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.).
Sarah Standiford, the executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, said in a press release that Collins and Rogers “can’t be trusted to protect our rights or our healthcare.”
Sandiford added, “It’s our job to make sure every voter knows that before they cast their ballot. Our message is resonating online and at the doors, and moving voters, so we’re putting more resources behind it in two races where we know Planned Parenthood Votes can make a big difference.”
Collins has been known to be one of the few Republican legislators to cast pro-abortion votes in the Senate, including last year, when she voted with Democrats to remove a provision from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that was to prohibit Medicaid funding from being given to Planned Parenthood for one year. And Planned Parenthood Action Fund endorsed Collins in 2002.
Collins is currently running against Maine Senate President Troy Jackson, a Democrat who once opposed abortion, but now supports it.
“I’ve made mistakes early on in understanding” abortion, Jackson told The New York Times in July, adding, “Regardless of this U.S. Senate race, I’m really, really proud of how I’ve turned that around and … done the right thing. I mean, I was wrong.”
Overall, Planned Parenthood Votes has vowed to give $47 million in its "We Decide" ad campaign to unseat legislators who voted to defund Planned Parenthood.
