Lila Rose inspires attendees at Live Action’s first-ever Women’s Summit

Live Action founder and president Lila Rose spoke at Live Action’s first-ever Women’s Summit on June 21, a gathering designed to “desire, encourage, and equip women to stand up for life.” She galvanized attendees to embrace their God-given calling and stand up for what is right.

“Ladies, we have the opportunity of a lifetime to stand up and to answer a call from God that he has given to each of us,” she said. “That call personally will look different for each of us. But the universal call is a call to courage and to stand up to speak the truth and to live with love to be women of conviction in a world that sorely needs it.”

The call to motherhood and leadership

Rose called on each woman in attendance to embrace their call to motherhood — whether biological or spiritual motherhood.

“Every woman is wired to motherhood. This doesn’t mean every woman will give birth, but it does mean that every woman is called to bring life. Spiritual motherhood is just as real as biological motherhood, and that’s the love that we pour out,” she explained. “That’s the people that we protect. That’s the souls that we shape. We women can mother through our leadership, through our mentorship, through our nurturing, through our sacrifices.”

She spoke of the need for good leaders to combat the decline of marriage and family life, and the consequence of that decline, which is abortion.

“We need leaders … who see marriage and motherhood not as obstacles, but as civilization-building things. That’s what we need. And those are the leaders that we are each called to be. This room is the room of the leaders of the future.”

The feminine genius

Each woman has a unique strength and sensitivity, Rose said — a strength Pope John Paul II called the feminine genius.

“Our genius is in our ability to see the person, to suffer with them, to build beauty in broken places, to nourish, and we lead with love together. But it is a love that is not soft. It is a love that comes from an interior strength of knowing our purpose and knowing our identity as women. Real feminism does not mean rejecting our design. It means embracing it.”

Fighting for life

Rose called on women to fight the radical feminism today that seeks to destroy that feminine genius of women. She said attendees need to “flip the script” and “fight for life and fight for our children.” She noted that abortion, the intentional killing of millions of preborn children, is not an accident but a “design from the pits of hell.”

Given the magnitude of this fight, she encouraged women to embrace their femininity and emerge as the leaders God has called them to be.

“Today is a day to be encouraged and inspired to go out and live that call to embrace the God-given identity as a woman that each of us have and to step into active leadership in the fight for life,” she said, adding that “every single one of us” can “mentor younger women, to support mothers in crisis or women who are post-abortive and seeking healing, to help others raise the next generation, or ourselves, if we are gifted with children, to raise our own children with conviction and joy. We can build and defend a culture of marriage.” She added:

Together, we form the next generation. We volunteer in schools. We build schools. We lead pro-life student groups. We support pro-life student groups. We teach girls the beauty of their fertility, the value of their bodies, their worth, and their power to protect life. And we reject the lies of the culture. And we refuse to be silent.
