Illinois gives millions in grants to Planned Parenthood and others to train abortionists

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced last week that it is awarding $2 million in grant money to three organizations that provide training for abortionists. The program is said to be “first-of-its-kind” in using state-funded money to help Illinois abortionists end the lives of the state’s preborn residents — and likely those from other states, as well.

Called the Abortion Provider Capacity Building Grant Program, the initiative awarded grants to the Midwest Access Project (MAP), Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL), and the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing.

“When I said Illinois would be an oasis for women seeking reproductive care, I meant it,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “Thanks to the Abortion Provider Capacity Building Grant Program, we will offer health care providers — who are meeting the moment with compassion and service — access to the training and mentorship they need to deliver the care women deserve.”

IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra claimed that the funding will improve access to “safe” abortion. “IDPH is proud to partner with these three outstanding organizations to support training that will improve access and quality to a full range of reproductive healthcare services, including safe abortions,” Dr. Vohra said.

But despite the claim, there is no such thing as a “safe” or “caring” abortion. Abortion is a procedure that always ends a human life — that of the preborn child — while putting the mother at risk.

Some of the many risks associated with abortion include infection, hemorrhaging, damage to the cervix and uterus, scar tissue formation, harm to the uterine lining, and even death. And though you don’t hear their names in many media stories, women have died following legal abortion procedures, including Cree Erwin-Sheppard, Keisha Atkins, Holly Patterson, Laura Hope Smith, Marla Cardamone, Christin Gilbert, and Jennifer Morbelli.

Some of the state’s abortion businesses, like Hope Clinic for Women and Access Health Center, are among the worst offenders, repeatedly injuring women, yet they remain open to injure even more women and kill more preborn children. If Illinois truly cared about safe and compassionate care, they would shut these facilities down instead of training future abortionists to continue in their destructive work.

The DOJ put a pro-life grandmother in jail for protesting the killing of preborn children. Please take 30-seconds to TELL CONGRESS: STOP THE DOJ FROM TARGETING PRO-LIFE AMERICANS.
