Illinois man sentenced to prison for forcing abortion pills on unsuspecting victim

The Backstory:

In August 2025, Emerson Evans, 32, forced four abortion pills into his girlfriend without her knowledge or consent. Evans had reportedly been pressuring the woman to abort, but she had refused.

Emergency personnel were called to the home in Bloomington on August 22 for a woman having a medical emergency. They found the woman crying in a bathroom, surrounded by a large amount of blood and the remains of her preborn baby in the toilet. The woman had been about seven weeks pregnant at the time.

Though Evans had initially denied drugging the woman, he later confirmed to authorities he purchased the abortion pill drugs for $50 from “a girl on campus.”

Stunningly, on the very same date the woman experienced her emergency — August 22, 2025 — Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed into law House Bill 3709, "mandating that public universities and colleges, including community colleges, in Illinois provide enrolled students with access to chemical abortion drugs beginning in the 2025-26 school year," as Live Action News previously reported.

The Details:

According to WGLT, Evans originally faced three counts of intentional homicide of an preborn child and one count of aggravated assault of a pregnant person, in addition to one count of voluntary manslaughter.

However, those charges were reduced to just one count of voluntary manslaughter following a plea deal.

McLean County Judge Jason Chambers sentenced Evans to seven years in prison on the charge, with credit given for the 285 days already spent in the McLean County jail.
