EXCLUSIVE: Faith guided Danielle Busby during her quintuplet pregnancy
In an exclusive interview with Live Action’s Sami Parker, Danielle Busby — best known as the mother of America’s first all-girl quintuplets — shared the extraordinary story behind her pregnancy, her refusal to cave to pressure to abort some of her children, and how faith sustained her through that high-risk journey.
In a Live Action interview, Danielle Busby shared the experience she had being pregnant with quintuplets.
She described refusing pressure from doctors to abort some of her children, noting that she could never choose between them.
She said her strong faith in God and trust in Him helped carry her through that difficult time.
Despite the doctors' dire predictions, all five babies survived and are thriving.
Busby began by sharing the story of learning she was pregnant with multiple children. At each doctor’s appointment, she and her husband, Adam, learned they were expecting more children than previously believed, increasing the number of babies first by one, then three, then four.
Her doctors became alarmed. Busby recalled one appointment that lasted several hours, during which the medical team shared grim statistics about the risks of premature birth, disability, and death.
For Busby, who had always dreamed of a big family, the experience was devastating. She and Adam left that appointment overwhelmed by fear, yet grounded in their Christian faith. They prayed for clarity, trusting that God had a plan and surrendering to His will.

Two weeks later, they returned for another ultrasound, expecting fewer babies, as doctors had warned that some could be miscarried. Instead, they saw something unexpected: one embryo had split into identical twins. Danielle was now carrying five babies. What she describes as God’s humor quickly gave way to another heavy conversation. Doctors strongly urged “reduction,” by aborting some of the babies to increase the chances of survival for the rest and to protect Danielle’s life.

Busby refused. She described the moment as one of fierce conviction, saying she could not choose between her children.
When a doctor questioned her decision and suggested Adam convince her otherwise, she felt a fire rise within her — one she believes God placed there. To her, the babies were not “sacks” or statistics; they were five heartbeats, five lives. She recalled being proud of standing up and advocating for her babies' lives in the face of significant pressure — something she encourages other moms not to be afraid to do.
Throughout the pregnancy, Danielle faced complications, including twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and blood incompatibility issues. Each new diagnosis brought fear, but she said prayer was the source of peace that medicine alone could not provide. Her advice to other women facing high-risk pregnancies is clear: do not go through it alone, seek multiple opinions, and turn to God for peace when fear threatens to take over.
The quintuplets were born at 28 weeks and immediately taken to the neonatal intensive care unit. “I remember being in recovery and just thinking, ‘Where are my babies?’” she said. Over the next three months, they came home one by one. “After July 4th, we had everybody home—and then it was chaos.”
Busby said the experience forged resilience and helped strengthen her faith and trust in God. “God can do miraculous things… and he can prove miracles do still happen today.”
