Ex-Planned Parenthood accountant gets 1-3 years for $100K embezzlement

A former Planned Parenthood accountant has been sentenced to up to three years in prison for embezzlement, the Buffalo News reports.

In 2013, Melissa Kwoka was convicted of stealing $102,733 from Planned Parenthood of Western New York by forging checks to herself and her husband. She will also have to reimburse Planned Parenthood at a rate of $647.78 monthly, as well as $208.33 per month to M&T Bank, from which the fake checks were drawn.

The paper notes that Kwoka’s crime was actually the largest in a history of theft, including three convictions from before her employment with the abortion giant and stealing over five hundred dollars from a friend’s bank account while on bail after her embezzlement conviction.

She had initially been sentenced to just six months in prison and another four and a half years of probation. This latest sentencing of one to three years comes on top of her original guilty plea to grand larceny in the second degree.

Though Planned Parenthood is the fraud victim in this case, Live Action News has previously reported on allegations that Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast and Planned Parenthood of the Heartland engaged in Medicaid fraud. The former agreed to pay back $4.3 million; the latter case is ongoing.
