ER doctor makes revealing admission about 'severe' abortion pill complications

An ER doctor seems to have accidentally contradicted a pro-abortion social media post and exposed the dangers of the abortion pill in the video's comments.

The doctor urged women who take the abortion pill to get follow-up care because the abortion pill could kill them — and in the process, she encouraged them to lie to doctors.

Key Takeaways:

  • An ER doctor commented on a pro-abortion social media video, urging women to seek follow-up care when they take the abortion pill from an online dealer, though the doctor supports abortion.

  • The original video had made the claim that the abortion pill is completely safe, but the comment made it clear that the abortion pill can cause severe complications and even death.

  • A recent analysis found that nearly 11% of women who take the abortion pill will require an ER or urgent care visit for severe complications — a 22x higher than the rate the FDA lists on the mifepristone (abortion pill) label.

The Details:

In a video, Live Action's Sami Parker reacted to the pro-abortion clip and the shocking comment associated with it, saying, "A pro-choice ER doctor commented on this video and accidentally proved the entire point of this video wrong."

In the original video, a woman said she is not concerned about the current FDA review of the abortion pill, mifepristone, because she "trusts the science." She acts as though she is ordering the abortion pill through an online dealer just to have on hand in case she or one of her friends "needs them."

"Unlike [Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Secretary of Health and Human Services] I trust... the hundred other countries and the World Health Organization, all of whom deemed it safe and aren't denying the science," she said.

This is actually referred to as "advance provision" of the abortion pill, and it has never been approved by the FDA — not even under pro-abortion administrations. Regardless, the abortion pill's manufacturers have chosen to turn a blind eye to this violation by the drug's prescribers. Live Action Research Fellow Carole Novielli noted in 2024:

In 2022, Politico reported a stern warning from the FDA about the dangers of prescribing the drug to women who are not pregnant, writing, “The FDA said health providers prescribing abortion medication to people who aren’t pregnant are acting without its authorization and that the practice is potentially dangerous for patients.”

Now that Roe is gone, it seems all bets and warnings are off… and access to drugs that intentionally kill is all that matters, regardless of risk.

Another problem is that the data or "science" on the abortion pill has been intentionally skewed for decades, and the ER doctor exposed one of the reasons why. Commenter sam.grace97 wrote:

"I'm an ER doctor. I love that this is accessible in such an easy way. but please, please if you find yourself pregnant and take these online abortion pill, it is crucial that you follow up with an OBGYN to make sure that it worked and that it worked completely.

I have taken care of multiple women who took these online abortion pills and then came to the ER because they were having severe bleeding and pain weeks later and they ended up having retained products of conception left behind, and had to go for emergency D&Cs.

you don't have to tell your OB that you took online abortion pills, you can tell them that you were pregnant and just started having a bunch of bleeding, there would be no way for them to tell if you took abortion pills vs had a spontaneous miscarriage."

She concluded (emphasis added):

but you need to make sure that that uterus is empty after taking these kind of pills or you can get so, so sick and possibly die."

Facts to Note

  • The ER doctor directly contradicts what the woman in the original video is claiming: that the abortion pill is safe and it's good to have them on hand from an online dealer.

  • The ER doctor exposes one of the direct reasons that the abortion industry can successfully mislead women about the safety of the abortion pill: for decades, it has been telling women to lie to ER doctors when they experience complications.

Why does this matter? Because abortion pill complications deceptively reported as natural miscarriage complications make the abortion pill look safer than it actually is — and then those abortion pill complications are never reported to the manufacturer OR the FDA.

  • The ER doctor is right. The abortion pill carries risks of hemorrhage, incomplete abortion, retained embryonic or fetal body parts, infection, and death.

According to a recent analysis published by the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC), nearly 11% of women who take mifepristone will require a visit to the ER or urgent care for a medical emergency. That's 22 times the rate the FDA includes on the mifepristone label.

"So basically, what this woman is saying about this 'junk study' about how women end up in the ER because they took this online abortion pill is actually not junk science. That study was correct. She proved that study right," noted Parker.

Profits over people

This truth has been buried for decades because the abortion pill is financially profitable.

The abortion pill was first approved for use in the U.S. under the Clinton administration in 2000. Then, on September 1, 2001, a woman in Canada died after taking the abortion pill, and the news of her death was made public on September 10, the day before the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

As Live Action News previously noted, Beverly Winikoff, founder of Gynuity Health Projects, the sponsor of controversial abortion pill clinical trials on girls as young as 10, was able to breathe a sigh of relief because 9/11 took over the news media.

"I remember the first day we heard about a death [from the abortion pill]... It was September 10, 2001... And that's [the tragic attack of 9/11] what saved mifepristone," Winikoff said.

"And that was like, existential, like, 'Oh my God. What is going on?' And 'is this going to be a problem?'... Planned Parenthood was very worried and was thinking of taking [the abortion pill] out of its clinics. And this was after it was registered."

The Bottom Line:

The abortion pill kills innocent preborn children and puts women's health in danger, yet it's marketed as safe.

This ER doctor did the right thing in telling the truth about the abortion pill's risks to anyone reading the comments on the social media video — but unfortunately, she also advised women to perpetuate the lie, which means other women will remain at risk while believing the abortion pill is safe.

Worse... the FDA just might buy the lie, too.
