Desensitizing killing as a “maturing event”
In November 2009, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina, Janet Colm, spoke to Planned Parenthood supporters. Here are some highlights of her speech that frankly disgusted me down to my very bones. You can read the whole speech here.
“As you probably know, we have just opened our third health center – in Fayetteville. Originally we planned to provide only family planning services in Fayetteville. But early on we heard from people in the community that there was a need for the high quality, respectful abortion services that are a hallmark of Planned Parenthood.”
I guess “high quality” abortion consist of hiding rape and giving out incorrect information about life in the womb which we have documented so many times at Planned. Check out this one :
“The legalization of abortion has improved the average living conditions of children. Mothers with wanted children have lower levels of depression and better quality relationships with their children.”
That audacious statement made my stomach turn with more disgust towards Planned Parenthood. What Planned Parenthood is saying is that by killing children, we are improving the living conditions of children. It is love, protection, and nurture that improves the lives of children. How are those things taught when we tell our society that some lives are wanted and loved and others are not?
Dear Reader,
Every day in America, more than 2,800 preborn babies lose their lives to abortion.
That number should break our hearts and move us to action.
Ending this tragedy requires daily commitment from people like you who refuse to stay silent.
Millions read Live Action News each month — imagine the impact if each of us took a stand for life 365 days a year.
Right now, we’re urgently seeking 500 new Life Defenders (monthly donors) to join us before the end of October. And thanks to a generous $250,000 matching grant, your first monthly gift will be DOUBLED to help save lives and build a culture that protects the preborn.

“And, I believe, at the individual level abortion can be a life changing event – a maturing experience. For many young women it is their first experience with successfully coping with a major personal crisis – the first time they have made a decision that cannot be changed.”
I agree with her that abortion can be a life changing event, but is it really a maturing experience for a woman? If so, then it is a negative experience with major life consequences because there is another life involved here, the beautiful unborn.
“This is what we tell our abortion patients: Abortion is a common life event similar to having a baby, getting a divorce, getting married, losing a loved one. We know that women have abortions because they care about themselves, their families, and their future families.”
Just because something is common (abortion, divorce, death of a loved) doesn’t mean it is good or right. Planned Parenthood’s crazy logical jumps are just another attempt to normalize the ‘abortion’ act. My fellow human beings, do not let the real logic and meaning of abortion be misused or distorted. If you want an accurate picture of what a human abortion does, I would encourage you to visit http://HeresTheBlood.com.
