California Planned Parenthood exec running for Congressional office

Lauren Babb Tomlinson, the chief public affairs officer for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, has announced that she is running for Congress in a newly drawn California district without an incumbent.

Key Takeaways:

  • Tomlinson, originally from Michigan, is an executive with Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, the largest of the abortion chain's affiliates.

  • She is running for District 6, a newly-drawn district created after voters approved Proposition 50.

  • Planned Parenthood Mar Monte is one of the affiliates heavily associated with the baby parts trafficking scandal uncovered by the Center for Medical Progress.

The Details:

Tomlinson announced her campaign in a newly-drawn district this week, which is a result of five districts being "heavily redistricted as part of Prop 50's aim to send more Democrats to Congress," according to KCRA. Tomlinson plans to promote "healthcare" as one of her top priorities.

"When Trump's bill was signed this summer, my Planned Parenthood had to close five health centers, which meant 22,000 patients lost access to care—particularly family medicine, prenatal care and behavioral health," Tomlinson told KCRA. "It was the most devastating day of my career. And so, I decided to do something about it. I'm running because I want people to have affordable access to healthcare."

Proposition 50 could still be blocked, but Tomlinson said she will still run for office even if it is.

“I’m not a career politician,” she told the Sacramento Bee. “I’ve spent my life on the front lines really fighting for families, fighting for workers, fighting for health care."

Last month, Tomlinson told media that Mar Monte planned to file an appeal in a lawsuit as they seek to block Nevada's abortion parental consent law regarding minors.

Zoom Out:

Planned Parenthood began closing health centers long before any bill defunding abortion providers passed in Congress or was signed into law in July. These closures are largely due to the corporation's intentional decision to shift much of its business to virtual and telehealth abortion, given that over 60% of the nation's abortions are now done by abortion pill.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion chain in the United States, and Mar Monte is its largest affiliate. It was one of the affiliates implicated in fetal body parts trafficking after undercover journalists from the Center for Medical Progress recorded members of the abortion industry haggling over the body parts of the babies they aborted.

At the Mar Monte affiliate, a whistleblower said abortionists left an abortion survivor to die, and the whistleblower was directed to remove the baby’s brain even as the child’s heart continued to beat.

The late Holly O'Donnell had been employed with StemExpress, a tissue procurement company that partnered with Planned Parenthood; she witnessed the process of obtaining fetal body parts. O'Donnell recalled one particular abortion at the Mar Monte affiliate in which the abortionist became angry when the patient got upset. O'Donnell said:

“Finally, the woman calmed down, and the doctor went in to perform the abortion.

Takes a little while and I’m in the hallway, I see the jar come out, goes into the path[ology] lab, and Jessica [StemExpress employee], I can hear, is preparing it, rinsing out the jar, rinsing out the linen — the lining that catches it, dumping it in the strainer, rinsing it off, putting water in the pie dish, and getting it ready for the doctor. So then I hear her call my name, like, ‘Hey, Holly, come over here. I want you to see something kinda cool. It’s kinda neat.'”

“The moment I see it, I’m flabbergasted," she continued. "This is the most gestated fetus and closest thing to a baby I’ve seen. And she’s like, ‘Ok, I wanna show you something.’ And she has one of her instruments, and she just taps the heart, and it starts beating. And I’m sitting here, and I’m looking at this fetus, and its heart is beating. And I don’t know what to think.”

The Bottom Line:

Abortion is not health care. Abortion is intentional killing. And Planned Parenthood and its largest affiliate, Mar Monte, know just how profitable killing can be.
