California man charged with murder after DUI crash kills preborn child
A California man has been charged with murder for a DUI crash that killed a man, injured a pregnant woman, and caused the death of her preborn child.
Last month, David Worthington Ross allegedly caused a five-vehicle crash after driving in the wrong lane while under the influence.
One man was killed, and a pregnant woman was injured and lost her preborn baby.
Ross has a previous DUI conviction, and has been charged with murder.
On August 26, Ross was allegedly the driver of a white GMC Canyon that caused a five-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near San Luis Obispo in California. He was traveling the wrong way and struck a black Dodge Charger head on, with three other vehicles then hitting the two cars.
55-year-old Cezar Roy was declared dead at the scene, and three other people were injured. One of them was Christyna Railsback, Roy's girlfriend. According to her GoFundMe page, she was 28 weeks pregnant with a baby boy.
"I was taken to the hospital because of my injuries and to check on my baby," she wrote. "Soon after arriving at the ER, doctors had to perform an emergency C-section. My baby boy did not survive. I was 28 weeks pregnant, and in the span of just a few hours, I lost both my boyfriend and my son."
Ross also had to spend five days in the hospital, and after being released, was arrested. He now faces two murder charges. He has been charged with second-degree murder for Roy's death, and second-degree murder of a human fetus for the death of Railsback's baby.
People like Ross are increasingly being held accountable for taking preborn lives, though this tends to raise the ire of abortion activists. Fetal homicide laws have been put into place in even the most pro-abortion of states, like California.
Much of this is due to Laci and Conner's Law, passed by Congress in 2004 following the murder of Laci Peterson, which also caused the death of her preborn son, Conner.
The reality is that preborn children are human beings, and as such, those that cause their deaths should have to answer for them.
Ross will be arraigned this month, and faces multiple charges.
