Where do Gary Johnson and Jill Stein stand on abortion?

Major party candidates aren’t the only ones making headlines this year–Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein are too. To make an informed vote, one must look at where the candidates stand on the issues and today we will see how their abortion policies line up.

In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Johnson declared he had “no intention of changing the law” on abortion and said it should be legal until viability. Children are usually considered viable at 24 weeks, although some have survived delivery at 22. What does aborting them involve? Dr. Anthony Levatino is an obstetrician-gynecologist who’s performed over 1,200 abortions, and he explains in the video below. As you watch, keep in mind that there’s evidence a baby can feel pain by week 20:

“After the amniotic fluid is removed, the abortionist uses a sopher clamp — a grasping instrument with rows of sharp “teeth” — to grasp and pull the baby’s arms and legs, tearing the limbs from the child’s body.

The abortionist continues to grasp intestines, spine, heart, lungs, and any other limbs or body parts. The most difficult part of the procedure is usually finding, grasping and crushing the baby’s head.

After removing pieces of the child’s skull, the abortionist uses a curette to scrape the uterus and remove the placenta and any remaining parts of the baby.”

Meanwhile, Stein has called abortion a “non-negotiable human right.” She also applauded when the Supreme Court overturned legislation requiring abortion facilities to meet the same health and safety standards as other surgical centers.

It’s been an unusual election, so it’s understandable that Johnson and Stein have gotten attention. Their abortion policies should get some too.
