Real-life bro-choice: J.J. Redick

You’ve likely heard by now of Ben Sherman from the Burnt Orange Report, claiming that the Texas pro-life omnibus bill hurts men who care about women. Sherman used the term “bro-choice,” and it is has since followed him and his piece. However, it doesn’t take much analysis to see that the true mentality behind bro-choice is consequence-free sex.

So, in reality, bro-choice is not so much about caring about women as it is about caring about one’s sex life and ensuring that a lifestyle that completely rejects personal responsibility and the sanctity of life is able to be kept up, courtesy of abortion. The guys who claim to be bro-choice and depend on this mentality really are depending on abortion. For abortion is a way out for them, a form of convenience.

The bro-choice term has gotten more attention now, and not with just Ben Sherman. A MediaTakeOut.com exclusive has the legal document NBA star J.J. Redick signed with his then-girlfriend about aborting their child. The contract also states that Redick and Vanessa Lopez, his girlfriend at the time, with whom he signed the contract, would stay together for one more year in their “relationship,” and if it ended, Redick would pay Lopez $25,000. Any time after that, any contact between the two of them would be considered stalking.

So if we were to judge Redick on this one legal document, it’s safe to say how scummy he is. But isn’t this what bro-choice is all about? Redick doesn’t have to deal with a baby, and he can go on to play basketball! Should Lopez have any issues about the abortion, well, she can’t go talk to Redick about it, because that would be considered stalking. How convenient for him!

Twitchy picked up on applying “bro-choice” to Redick and has plenty of tweets reacting to the incident. What’s even more sickening is that Redick’s Twitter account describes him as a “Christian. Husband. Foodie…”

Considering that Lopez was involved in the contract as well, she did have some say. But it is entirely possible that Redick pressured her into signing the document, as he agreed to stay with her for one more year then. And even if there was no pressure, such a document and the whole bro-choice mentality do nothing to help men and women in the long term, nor do they help their innocent unborn children. Perhaps Redick’s child with Lopez would have been a son, who would have inherited his father’s love and skill for basketball. Perhaps they would have had a daughter, who could have been a model like her mother. We will never know, and that’s what bro-choice is all about.
