Pay no attention to the elitist population controller behind the curtain

Liberal strategist Kirsten Powers wrote a brilliant piece on Planned Parenthood last week. Although she seems to have lost her confidence in some parts of her argument, she has still pointed out some fascinating details–including the fact that Planned Parenthood, according to their own 990 tax filings (pg. 82), still considers itself a population control organization.

In the 990 form for non-profits, the non-profit must state its official organization purpose . Here is Planned Parenthood’s:

THE PURPOSE OF THE FEDERATION IS:
(A) TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP:
– IN MAKING EFFECTIVE MEANS OF VOLUNTARY FERTILITY REGULATION, INCLUDING CONTRACEPTION, ABORTION, STERILIZATION, AND INFERTILITY SERVICES, AVAILABLE AND FULLY ACCESSIBLE TO ALL AS A CENTRAL ELEMENT TO REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE:
– IN ACHIEVING, THROUGH INFORMED INDIVIDUAL CHOICE, A U.S. POPULATION OF STABLE SIZE IN AN OPTIMUM ENVIRONMENT;
– IN STIMULATING AND SPONSORING RELEVANT BIOMEDICAL, SOCIO-ECONOMIC, AND DEMOGRAPHIC RESEARCH;
– IN DEVELOPING APPROPRIATE INFORMATION, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING PROGRAMS.
(B) TO SUPPORT AND ASSIST EFFORTS TO ACHIEVE SIMILAR GOALS IN THE UNITED STATES AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

There you have it. Planned Parenthood’s official mission is to make abortion, contraception, and sterilization a routine part of medical care so that the U.S. can achieve a “population of stable size.” Note the erroneous assumption that the current population is not stable, or at least, that reducing the population will bring stability. Oh, and they “support and assist efforts to achieve similar goals in the United States and throughout the world.”

“[W]e are paying for and even submitting to the dictates of an ever increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all,”

wrote Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger in her 1922 book Pivot of Civilization. Compare this statement with one made just a few months ago by current Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards:

[A]n investment in covering birth control actually in the long run is a huge cost savings because women don’t have children that they weren’t planning on having and all the sort of attendant cost for unplanned pregnancy.

Margaret Sanger was an avid eugenicist who wanted to control the fertility of people she and her fellow travelers deemed “unfit”–which was typically code for African-Americans, as Mark Crutcher documents in Maafa 21. Cecile Richards, current Planned Parenthood CEO, praised Margaret Sanger as recently as today in an op-ed.

Pay no attention to the eugenicist behind the curtain.
