Oklahoma man faces murder charges in deaths of pregnant woman and preborn baby
An Oklahoma man has been charged with two counts of murder after allegedly killing his girlfriend and her preborn child.
20-year-old Stephanie Strock was found beaten to death on October 26.
She was seven months pregnant at the time of her death.
Her boyfriend, 28-year-old Austin Morrison, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder for the deaths of Strock and her preborn child.
The Police Department in Heavener, Oklahoma, responded to a welfare check on October 26 and found 20-year-old mom Stephanie Strock deceased. Strock was seven months pregnant at the time of her death.
Strock's 28-year-old boyfriend, Austin Morrison, was found walking nearby. Evidence near the scene gave the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reason to suspect Morrison was responsible for Strock's death. He was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of both Strock and the preborn baby.
Strock's brother, John Woods, told reporters Strock had been beaten to death.
“I got told that he hit her with a rock. I’m not sure how many times, but that’s what killed her,” Woods said.

He told 40/29 News he was on the phone with his sister when Morrison allegedly beat her to death:
"She called me and she was crying, saying that he hit her and she was bleeding from the mouth. I said, 'Okay you need to get off the phone with me, call 911 and get out of the house now.Stay on the phone until the police officers arrive.' But as soon as I told her that, he came room with her, calling her all kinds of names and I could hear him hitting her. The last thing I heard from him and anything before the phone call dropped was 'Wah, wah, you stupid b****.' Then I heard more hitting and the phone call dropped."
Woods called the police, who arrived at the home and found Strock outside the home, dead.
Strock's friend, Cathy Ritter, told 5 News Online that the relationship between Strock and Morrison was abusive. She lamented that Strock was unable to find help sooner.
"I think Stephanie should have been somewhere before all this tragedy happened, and I think it would have been avoided, and I think her baby would still be alive," Ritter said. "I do believe that she may have been able to have a chance to be a mother to both her children if we would have paid attention sooner."
Unfortunately, homicide is a leading cause of death of pregnant woman, and in many cases, those homicides are domestic violence situations.
