Lila Rose at Life Awards gala: 'Prayer is the most important part of our work'
At the 2026 Live Action Life Awards Gala, held on Saturday, October 24, in Huntington Beach, California, Live Action founder and president Lila Rose told attendees that much has been accomplished in changing hearts and minds, but much remains to be done — and prayer is at the heart of this work.
Lila Rose addressed guests at the 2026 Live Action Life Awards Gala, emphasizing that education changes hearts and minds, but prayer is at the heart of bringing about this change through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Live Action is advancing core initiatives, including Baby Olivia legislation, Live Action's Ambassadors Program, Live Action's North Star Fellowship, and an upcoming feature-length documentary film.
Rose pointed out that every single individual, even those ideologically opposed to the pro-life position, has incredible worth and dignity and needs our love and prayer.
Lila Rose addressed the enthusiastic crowd by explaining that when she travels, she sometimes gets the opportunity to meet individuals directly impacted by the work of Live Action who chose life for their babies. When this happens, it brings everything into perspective.

Rose asked:
"When you imagine the future, what do you see? Will our children grow up in a country where families are strong, where faith is alive, and every child is welcomed?
Or will our children inherit a world that has grown colder, lonelier, and increasingly willing to abandon the people who need us the most? I believe that we are standing at a turning point."
Rose noted that America is becoming far less welcoming to children, pointing out that the U.S. fertility rate is well below replacement level, which impacts not just the economic and employment sectors of society, but families themselves.
"The deepest losses will never appear on a government spreadsheet," she noted. "It means fewer brothers and sisters, fewer cousins around the Thanksgiving table, fewer young families in our churches, grandchildren who will never be born. And the greatest tragedy, the one that compounds all the others, is this: Every year in America, more than 1 million children are killed by abortion. Every one of them had a mother and a father. Everyone was a living human being already here, already one of us."
This tragic change didn't happen overnight, and it won't be remedied overnight.
Building a culture of life that welcomes human lives and recognizes human dignity for all humans — including those in the womb — takes time and perseverance. And it cannot be accomplished by sheer force of will.
Rose went on to explain:
"Friends, we have to remember that in this spiritual battle for hearts and minds, our work will only be as effective as the love that we receive and give from Jesus.
As Christians, we know that faith is a gift. We cannot argue somebody into receiving the gift. Live Action is in the mind-changing business. We exist to move hearts and minds and to save lives. But a true conversion, a heart truly broken for the babies, a heart truly healed is a gift of the Holy Spirit.
That is why prayer is the most important part of our work.
So pray for those who have not yet received the gift. Love them. Always speak the truth and never forget that the person who disagrees with you is somebody that God loves."
Rose noted that Live Action is working hard to educate future generations through Baby Olivia bills, bringing prenatal development education to public schools, and has made great progress, with this prenatal education now required in eight states (Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Tennessee). But there is much more work to be done, and there is strong opposition.
"We are competing against an industry that has spent decades teaching Americans to look away from the child and hiding behind words like choice, healthcare, and pregnancy tissue," she noted.
Live Action's educational efforts go beyond this. "Every week, Live Action publishes dozens of news reports, hundreds of pieces of persuasive pro-life content, and videos, all reaching millions of people," Rose said, drawing specific attention to several additional "core initiatives" Live Action is advancing, including Live Action's Ambassadors Program, North Star Fellowship, and an upcoming feature-length documentary film.
As Rose pointed out, every single individual, even those ideologically opposed to the pro-life position, has incredible worth and dignity. "No one, no matter what they have endured, no matter what they have gone through, is too far gone for redemption and for triumph."
