Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell welcome baby girl on their one-year anniversary

Bindi Irwin and her husband Chandler Powell welcomed their daughter on March 25, their one-year wedding anniversary.

“Celebrating the two loves of my life,” Irwin wrote on Instagram. “Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”

The couple named their baby girl Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, in a nod to her father, the late Steve Irwin, perhaps best known as the Crocodile Hunter.

“Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light,” said Irwin. “Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad.”

The couple first announced they were expecting a baby back in August 2020 and shared updates with their social media followers throughout the pregnancy. She reflected on the first moment she learned she was pregnant.

“Discovering that I was going to become a mother will forever be a moment where time stood still,” she wrote on Instagram during her pregnancy. “Our baby Wildlife Warrior is going to be so very loved by our families and entire Australia Zoo team. I can’t wait to find out what this amazing new soul loves in life, and experience the world all over again through their eyes.”

She told her followers that she wanted them to be a part of the pregnancy journey from the “beginning of this new life chapter.” She wrote, “We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives.”

In November, Irwin shared an ultrasound of her baby girl, calling her “the light of our lives.”

“This is so exciting,” she said. “Look at our daughter — she’s so beautiful.”

Her husband responded, “Wow. You can see her heartbeat there. Oh my goodness. She is beautiful.”
