'Don't surrender your voice': Dr. Alveda King accepts 2026 Live Action Life Award
Live Action's Life Awards Gala is an annual event to honor those who are "outspoken defenders of preborn children," and one of the 2026 recipients was Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who she said was "definitely pro-life" like his parents, though "his wife was not."
Alveda King has long advocated for the preborn, and in her acceptance speech, she offered encouraging words for persevering in the pro-life movement.
Dr. Alveda King, a recipient of Live Action's 2026 Life Award, reminded those in attendance to do all for the glory of God and to "speak for life" and "choose life."
Dr. King spoke of meeting Live Action founder and president Lila Rose decades ago, as the two were focusing their work in the pro-life movement.
Dr. King first recounted meeting Live Action founder and president Lila Rose when Rose was just 19 years old, but already years into her work in the "battlefield" of the pro-life movement.

"At the time, we worked together devoted to God and to the cause of life and the pursuit of happiness from the womb to the tomb and beyond," King recounted.
She then said that all she has done has been for the glory of God, and reminded everyone that they are "foot soldiers in the army of the Lord," united for a common purpose.
"In Christ, we go from victory to victory with faith, hope, and love in every generation. We had a little baby at the table a minute ago. There's one behind us. The babies just keep on coming, and we thank God for that," she said.
In closing, Dr. King offered some words of wisdom for those working in the pro-life movement.
"God made us of one blood, one human family, and we have a responsibility to care for our neighbors and the generations coming behind us," she said, continuing:
Always pray, repent, love, and forgive.
Vote your faith, not your fears.
Let your convictions guide your choices and treat those who disagree with dignity.
Whatever the predictions say, just do your part.
Don't surrender your voice before you have used it. Speak for life. Choose life.
