Young man says he survived two abortion attempts: 'Everyone has a right to life'
A social media video shared recently by Mark Harrington of Created Equal features a young man who said he is staunchly against abortion, sharing that he is alive despite the fact that his mother tried twice to abort him.
Mark Harrington of Created Equal recently filmed an interaction with a student who shared that he is against abortion because he is an abortion survivor.
Though they are seldom reported, there are many abortion survivors. Live Action News has shared some of their stories.
The Abortion Survivors Network is an organization to provide support and resources to those who survive abortion.
In the video, the student stops to talk to Harrington, who is filming the interaction.
"Do you have any thoughts on abortion?" Harrington asks the student.
"I'm very against it," the student responds.
After further questioning from Harrington, the student shares that he was born in Russia, and was later adopted. When he was 13, he did some research and found his biological mother. He reached out to her to find more of his story.
"She was a drug addict on the street," he said. "And then she tried to abort me twice, and it failed both times."
He explained that she tried the abortion pill, but it was "too late," and then the second time she planned to go get an abortion, but the money she intended to use was stolen from her.
"The whole reason I'm here is because abortion failed," the student said. "I'm also a Christian, so I believe that everyone has a right to life."
Though they are seldom spotlighted in the media, abortion survivors do exist. People like Josiah Presley, Sarah Zagorski, Melissa Ohden, Linda Swayn, Amy Miles, Claire Culwell and others have all gone public with their abortion survival stories — countless more have not.

A 2024 report from the Family Research Council found that there are at least 277 known cases of abortion survivors in the United States — though the real number is likely much higher, as there are no federal abortion reporting guidelines. Additional abortion survivors, like the young student interviewed by Harrington, hail from around the world.
In some cases, abortion survivors may need additional support or resources to help them process the knowledge that they survived an abortion attempt. Abortion survivor Melissa Ohden has created The Abortion Survivors Network as a platform to "empower the abortion survivor community and those impacted by unsuccessful abortions."
