Abortion industry remains largely untouched despite accusations of systemic racism

Planned Parenthood

Eugenicist Frederick Osborn claimed in the 1960s that “[b]irth control and abortion are turning out to be the great eugenic advances of our time,” and confessed that “[e]ugenic goals are most likely attained under a name other than eugenics.” That name is abortion. It dehumanizes the defenseless child in the womb, reducing him or her to the mere property of the mother.

After sterilization and other overt eugenic methods were forced upon minorities in the 1950s and 60s (acts later condemned by the courts), abortion became the new mechanism used by eugenicists to control certain populations. The racism and eugenics on which the abortion industry was founded is well known, and even its modern-day racism is being exposed. Despite this, the abortion industry and its advocacy groups remain intact, fueled by elitists with eugenic goals.

NARAL Pro-Choice America

In the 1960s and 70s, American eugenicists shifted away from forced population control and replaced it with the mantra of “choice” with the help of Larry Lader (known as the “Father of the Abortion Rights“), who was considered a disciple of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger. Lader also co-founded NARAL Pro-Choice America and stated that in order for abortion to be legalized, the eugenic agenda must be hidden from the public, and “women… and some Blacks” must be kept “out front” once recruited to the cause.

Despite being one of the oldest modern pro-abortion groups, NARAL has failed to condemn systemic racism within the abortion movement. Recently, Planned Parenthood staffers acknowledged, “Planned Parenthood was founded by a racist, white woman.” Yet, NARAL has referred to Sanger as a “trailblazer” more than once, and has even used her name in fundraising efforts.

In June, Planned Parenthood staffers and affiliates admitted the corporation is steeped in racism and “white supremacy.” Yet the 100-year-old corporation built by a one-time Ku Klux Klan speaker and advocate of requiring licenses to reproduce receives half a billion taxpayer dollars annually. Neither media, nor Hollywood, nor abortion-friendly politicians have condemned the organization. Instead, they have willingly accepted Planned Parenthood’s highest award, given in Margaret Sanger’s name, year after year.

Likewise, others embedded in the industry have neglected to call out their own organizations until now.

Dr. Daniel Grossman

Abortionist Daniel Grossman is heavily tied to NARAL Pro-Choice America, and is also linked to Planned Parenthood Shasta PacificPlanned Parenthood Federation of America’s National Medical Committee and Planned Parenthood Federation of AmericaYet there is no evidence that Grossman, in all his years of association with these abortion organizations, ever exposed the overt racism or white supremacy in their ranks.

Instead, he published a tweet calling for an end to “white supremacy” after hundreds of Planned Parenthood staffers exposed the corporation’s racism. Grossman did not demand a dismantling of these institutions — nor did he advocate for their defunding.

Later, Grossman tweeted, “[…] we recognize that racism and white supremacy are deeply ingrained within our academic and research institutions, within medicine and medical research and practice, and in our own backyard of Oakland, where ANSIRH’s [Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health] office is located.” Grossman serves as director for this University of California San Francisco program. Read more about ANSIRH here.

On July 2, Grossman revealed which academic institutions he was referring to in another tweet acknowledging that, under his own leadership, ANSIRH had “created and upheld structures that limit the success of Black and Brown scholars and staff.”

So far, only the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York has been removed from an abortion organization’s position of leadership due to charges of institutional racism. Only time will tell if more will follow.
