2. The New North Star

On June 15, 2023, Live Action and a coalition of 26 pro-life groups and individuals published The New North Star Coalition Letter, launching a clear goal for the pro-life movement in the post-Roe United States — ending abortion by ensuring the equal protection of preborn children under the 14th Amendment. Signatories range from presidents of pro-life and conservative non-profits to professors, doctors, and journalists. Among the groups who signed on are Students for Life of America, 40 Days for Life, Concerned Women for America, and Human Coalition.

The letter expressly states that “to be pro-life is to affirm that the lives of innocent human beings deserve legal protection from violence, both before and after birth.”

On June 21, 2023, one day before the first anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Rose held a press conference announcing The New North Star.

“Now it is the time,” said Rose, “to turn our attention as a movement to The New North Star which is equal protection for all, as our Constitution promises. You see, human beings, as we know, are guaranteed equal protection from the very beginning of our lives — not an arbitrary mark at birth. We don’t become human at birth, but from the very beginning, the moment of fertilization, and that this is promised by the 14th Amendment to our Constitution.”

3. Window to the Womb

In December, Live Action launched an unprecedented new look at life in the womb. The interactive Window to the Womb web app allows users to truly see into the womb with medically accurate, lifelike time-lapse images of a baby in the womb every single day of development. It has been viewed 4.3 million times since it was released on December 14.

While other tools showing fetal development offer a small handful of images of the nine-month journey in the womb or compare baby size to items like fruit, Window to the Womb is scientifically accurate and stunningly beautiful.

Users can view a time-lapse video of an entire pregnancy or they can pause and interact with the images to learn more about a particular stage of development. Window to the Womb aims to combat the lies about fetal development that are often told by the abortion industry.

4. ‘I Saw My Baby’ series

In 2023, Live Action created a series of videos sharing the traumatic and heartbreaking stories of women who took the abortion pill and then saw the results of their choice. The “I Saw My Baby” campaign revealed the truth — that the abortion pill kills living human beings in the womb.

One such story is that of Salome, who shared that after taking the abortion pill, “I saw the most heartbreaking thing that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I saw my child… It was the most beautiful thing that I’ve ever created. And I destroyed it.”

Likewise, Natalie shared that after she took the abortion drugs, “I looked down and saw him; it wasn’t like a heavy period, it was a baby. I couldn’t look anymore; it was a child, not just a bit of blood.” Devastated and bleeding heavily, she stayed in bed for three days trying not to think about what she had done.

These are just two of the stories that women have shared regarding the heartbreak of seeing their baby’s body after taking the abortion pill and realizing that the abortion industry had lied to them about their baby’s development and how ‘easy’ taking the abortion pill was supposed to be. The video series has been collectively viewed more than five million times.

5. New satire videos

Live Action published 172 new videos on YouTube in 2023. including satire videos that sparked conversations and honest reactions to the truth about abortion and abortion advocacy.

Thought-provoking satire videos of 2023 included “Dark Times,” which premiered in July and has been viewed more than 10 million times, The two latest satire videos, Killing Innocent People, Inc. and Lightbulb Moment hit three million views combined in the first two weeks after their releases. In all, Live Action’s satire videos have been viewed 17.4 million times. They can all be viewed here.

6. The Lawmakers Summit

On August 11, Live Action gathered pro-life legislators together from around the nation at the Lawmakers Summit in Park City, Utah. There, members of the Live Action team including Rose shared with legislators how they can work to best protect babies from abortion through bills and initiatives.

While Live Action works to change hearts and minds on abortion, it is now more important than ever to strengthen pro-life laws following the fall of Roe v. Wade in 2022.

7. Lila Rose’s speech at the United Nations

In November, Rose spoke at the United Nations Transatlantic Summit to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

“When the member states of the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, the world was reeling,” said Rose. “We were three years removed from the liberation of the Nazi death camps in 1945, where the horrors of the evils committed against the Jewish people and political dissidents emerged, and the world would never be the same. Their human rights were violated. They were enslaved, their bodies used for labor or human experimentation at the whim of their captors. They were cruelly tortured and degraded as if they were less than animals. They were murdered.”

Rose noted that according to Article 3 of the Declaration, “‘Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.'” And from Article 6, “‘Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law.'” She also explained, “The Declaration’s preamble states that the rights enumerated are for ‘all members of the human family.'”

8. Lila Rose appears on the “Whatever” podcast

Rose held her ground and exposed the truth about relationships and abortion when she appeared on the “Whatever” dating podcast multiple times in 2023, including in May, when she challenged the ideas of non-monogamous relationships and so-called “unwanted” babies.

In June, Rose again appeared on the “Whatever podcast,” during which she debated pro-abortion Steven Bonnell, who goes by the name ‘Destiny.’ Rose challenged Destiny’s pro-abortion false logic, including the erroneous ideas that life begins with consciousness and that abortion is akin to the removal of life support.

In breaking down the errors in these arguments, Rose exposed the truth that there is no justification for abortion.

In August, Rose appeared on Whatever for a third time to debate pornography actors alongside Christian YouTuber and rapper, Ruslan KD. She made another appearance on the Whatever podcast in December, along with noted Catholic apologist Trent Horn, during which Rose again faced off against Destiny — this time on the topic of pornography.

The start of 2023 saw a new wave of dangerous efforts to expand access to the abortion pill. Danco Laboratories, the manufacturer of the abortion pill, announced in early January that the FDA had given approval for retail pharmacies to sell the lethal pills, turning chains like Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens into abortion facilities.

In response, Live Action launched a petition urging Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens not to move forward with their decisions to dispense the abortion pill. Live Action was able to deliver the petition with over 170,000 signatures to Walgreens and CVS headquarters.

10. Live Action 2023 Life Awards Gala

Live Action held its fourth annual Life Awards Gala in September, where pro-life champions were celebrated for promoting the cause of life. This year’s recipients included supermodel and human rights activist Kathy Ireland, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, and the Sisters of Life, who assist women experiencing unplanned pregnancies.

Receiving the award for Sisters of Life, Sister Bethany Madonna told the crowd, “What the world needs is more love. Perfect love casts out fear. And fear is at the root of every decision against life. So many choosing abortion are being driven by fear… Perfect love casts out fear, and so we need saints, prophets, and martyrs to meet the needs of this day. There are some things worth dying for, and life and truth are worth dying for. The truth of the dignity of every human person.”

BONUS: Live Action News exposes important truths with two powerful series

Live Action News published more than 2,300 articles in 2023, including op-eds, breaking news, and in-depth series. Two of those were the “Built on Sand” series exposing the sordid truth behind celebrated sexologist Alfred Kinsey, and the “Bad Actors” series, exposing the abortion industry’s bad practices regarding the abortion pill.

In Built on Sand, Live Action researcher and contributing writer Bettina di Fiore exposed the truth about Kinsey, who was described as the “Father of the Sexual Revolution.” Kinsey’s ‘contributions’ to America’s cultural shift regarding sex cannot be ignored. American children have been deeply affected by Kinsey’s ‘research,’ which was driven by his own personal demons and his sexual obsessions. The so-called ‘data’ he collected was from predatory pedophiles who kept detailed files of their sexual assaults on children as young as infants in ‘sessions’ that lasted as long as 24 hours. The series begins here.

In Bad Actors, Live Action research fellow and contributing writer Carole Novielli exposed how the abortion industry openly ignores the FDA’s abortion pill use limits, how abortion pill clients are left to deal with deadly ectopic pregnancies on their own, how the abortion industry is willing to promote failure-prone abortion drugs for its financial profit, and how the abortion industry sells abortion drugs to women who aren’t pregnant. In addition, Novielli exposes the abortion industry’s willingness to risk women’s safety and how it encourages women and doctors to hide abortion pill complications. She also shines a light on the money trail connecting the abortion pill to corruption. The Bad Actors series begins here.
