Lawsuit: Planned Parenthood patient left alone, falls and breaks her neck

A 26-year-old woman is suing Planned Parenthood after she was left alone following insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD), and fell and broke her neck. Morgan Castro is claiming that she was ignored after telling staffers she was feeling dizzy, were negligent with her care, and that she lost consciousness following the procedure.

The lawsuit, which was obtained by the Pro-Life Action League, contains details of the alleged incident. Castro went to a Planned Parenthood facility on LaSalle Drive in Chicago, Illinois to get an IUD inserted. “Following the insertion of the IUD, Morgan felt dizzy,” the lawsuit reads. “Morgan informed the healthcare provider of those symptoms. After being informed of Morgan’s dizziness, the healthcare provider left the room, leaving Morgan alone and unmonitored. Morgan lost consciousness and fell from the table to the ground.”

Dizziness and even fainting is not uncommon after IUD insertion, something Planned Parenthood’s own website admits.

After falling to the ground, Morgan was allegedly left there, lying unconscious, until the Planned Parenthood staffer eventually came back and found her. She reported pain in her head and neck and was taken via ambulance to Presence St. Joseph’s Hospital, where several fractures were found in her spine. Her injuries were severe enough that she had to then be transferred to another hospital, where she was fitted with a halo brace.

While IUDs are increasing in popularity, women are increasingly suffering complications from them. One woman sued after suffering potentially fatal complications; another woman had to undergo amputations and multiple surgeries after her IUD migrated through her body and led to sepsis. Additional women have suffered other terrible side effects. While women should be able to make the decision to use birth control, they are frequently not given adequate warning about what they will be risking in potential side effects, making informed consent impossible.

The Planned Parenthood facility Morgan went to is also notorious in its own right; it is the same facility where Tonya Reaves was killed through negligence by Planned Parenthood after an abortion. With Reaves, the abortionist failed to complete the abortion, perforated her uterus, and possibly severed her uterine artery. This led to catastrophic bleeding, which Planned Parenthood staffers did nothing about for over five hours. In fact, they never even called 911; by the time Reaves received proper medical attention at the hospital, it was too late. She tragically passed away.

Planned Parenthood claims to deliver “care, no matter what.” That’s their motto. Yet their treatment of women shows that they actually could not care less.
