Post-abortive woman admits ‘part of me died’ the day of my abortion

A woman who took the abortion pill shared her story on the website AbortionChangesYou.com. She said she was pressured into the abortion by her boyfriend and that she deeply regrets it.

“The day of my 1st visit [to the clinic] my partner accompanied me and I could see in his face there was no remorse or even a slight change in mind and I felt as if I was doing this decision just to not deal with him,” she explained.

At the facility, she told the staff not to let her hear the baby’s heartbeat during the sonogram. She felt that if she heard the heartbeat, she would be unable to go through with the abortion.

The experience of taking the abortion pill was extremely painful, and her partner was not there to support her. She explained:

I then scheduled the abortion for the next day and went through the worst pain after all. My partner was unable to experience me go through all the pain [sic] and my friend from childhood accompanied me through the 8 hours of pain from the abortion pill.

She suffered deep regret immediately and says that “a part of me died.” She regrets allowing her boyfriend to pressure her. “How could I do this and why would I let someone convince me in thinking this was the right choice?” she wrote.

A week later, she was still mourning:

It has been a week officially and I have started a new job now but the emotions that come with the abortion are terrible. I think about the baby all day and when I see little ones I always think to myself this could have been my baby in a few years, I cry helplessly at times when driving hearing songs on the radio and how all I can think is having that baby inside of me made me feel so happy as of a small me could have been my joy.… I will always love my baby but at the time I felt pressured and I deeply regret it because the emotions affect you afterward.

Abortion is not an empowering experience for women, and many women suffer from the regret and sadness of abortion trauma. These are the stories that pro-choice groups never tell. Pro-abortion organizations spread the false narrative that most women are happy and grateful that they had abortions, but as research suggests this is untrue. Over 70% of women who have had abortions say they were pressured into it. Now they have to live with the pain and regret.
