Many parents know the difficulty of giving birth to a child who needs to receive special care in the neonatal intensive care unit, and what an emotionally trying time it can be. According to E online, singer Meghan Trainor and her husband Daryl Sabara recently experienced this, and shared a video of their son Riley’s time in the NICU.

While the pair have also shared pictures of their now healthy two-month-old son, it seems the journey toward this happy outcome was not an easy one. A TikTok video posted by the singer last week shows the newborn baby hooked up to tubes.

Since she was not always allowed in the room with Riley due to COVID-19, some of the video footage shows Trainor crying as she watches her son through Facetime.

“We had a rocky start..but Riley is perfect, happy and healthy,” the singer wrote on Instagram on April 23. “So lucky to be your mama sweet boy.”

Trainor was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, a complication that can put babies at an increased risk of breathing difficulties and preterm birth. People magazine reported Riley’s birth, stating he was delivered via C-section one week earlier than his due date.

Despite the challenges faced, the couple posted Instagram photos that showed off the latest addition to their family and pictures that showed the three of them altogether.

“This sweet baby boy’s due date was today on Valentine’s Day ? We got to meet him Monday, Feb 8th! We are SO IN LOVE ?? Thank you @darylsabara for the best Valentine’s gift ever! Welcome to the world Riley!” Trainor wrote.

“Riley 7lbs 8oz 2/8/21 ps-@meghan_trainor you are my forever Valentine and I’m so beyond grateful for you bringing our son into the world,” Sabara wrote.

Having married in December 2018, the celebrity couple announced last October on the Today show that they were expecting their first baby. Trainor also shared her pregnancy news on Instagram last October, writing, “You all know how long I’ve wanted this!!!! @darylsabara and I are so beyond happy and excited to meet this little cutie early next year! WE’RE PREGNANTTTTT!!!”

Thankfully, all now appears well with baby Riley, and the couple can focus on being the best parents possible to their precious little one.
