Live Action Memo: Jump Start American Fertility
Memo urges President Trump not to fund unethical, expensive, and ineffective IVF
Washington, D.C. – Today, Live Action, one of the nation’s leading human rights organizations, released a memo arguing against public funding for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
The report cites high costs, low success rates, ethical concerns regarding embryo loss, and the availability of an alternative: Restorative Reproductive Medicine (RRM).
The memo states that on average, nine embryos are created during each round of IVF, with over 85% of embryos either frozen, miscarried, discarded, or subjected to experimentation.
Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, released the following statement:
“The Trump administration has an opportunity to lead with courage and compassion by rejecting public funding for IVF—and instead championing ethical alternatives like Restorative Reproductive Medicine.
IVF is not creating the building blocks of life, as many believe; it is creating and discarding human life itself. This practice destroys millions of human beings, burdens families with sky-high costs, and ultimately fails to deliver lasting solutions for infertility.
Every human life begins at fertilization and must be protected. We must reject public funding for a practice that kills children in the name of family building and instead embrace alternatives like Restorative Reproductive Medicine that heal bodies, honor life, and help families flourish. This is a chance to make America healthier and more family-friendly by standing for life and rejecting the false promise of IVF.”
IVF has a high embryo loss rate, a low live birth rate, and poses a significant financial burden. Less than 10% of embryos created through IVF result in a live birth, At the same time, RRM offers a more effective, ethical, and affordable solution by addressing the root causes of infertility and respecting each human life created.
Ultimately, the memo demands the government reject funding for IVF and prioritize RRM instead.
Dr. Lauren Rubal, M.D., a USC-trained reproductive endocrinology and infertility physician, made the following statement:
“As a doctor, I have seen firsthand the heartbreak that comes with infertility. But the solution is not IVF. IVF destroys millions of human lives each year, reduces human embryos to commodities, and offers false hope at staggering financial and emotional costs. Every human life begins at fertilization and must be protected, whether in the womb or the lab.
We must reject public funding for a practice that kills children in the name of family building. I have seen Restorative Reproductive Medicine work. It addresses the root causes of infertility, promotes healing, and respects the dignity of every human life. We must lead with compassion and consistency, ensuring that families.”
