DOGE Investigates Planned Parenthood for Misuse of Federal Funds; Cites Live Action Investigation

The organization’s recent undercover report will aid in defunding Planned Parenthood. 

Washington, D.C. – Today, Live Action, one of the nation’s leading human rights organizations, applauds Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and the DOGE subcommittee for which she chairs for investigating Planned Parenthood, questioning whether the nonprofit is misusing federal funds for unpermitted purposes, such as abortions and gender-affirming care, in violation of the Hyde Amendment.

In her letter to Planned Parenthood’s CEO, Representative Greene notes that Planned Parenthood dispenses cross sex hormones to minors as young as 16, with inconsistent adherence to parental consent policies and unclear reporting of transgender services. She cites Live Action’s undercover investigation that recently exposed Planned Parenthood of fast-tracking vulnerable children into potentially irreversible hormone treatments with almost no medical oversight.

“Planned Parenthood receives almost $800 million in taxpayer money each year. They use these funds to prey on our children by giving them dangerous drugs that can leave lifelong scars. This is not healthcare. It is child abuse, and the American people should never pay for it. 

In addition to recklessly giving cross sex hormones to minors, Planned Parenthood continues to kill more than 1,000 precious preborn babies in the womb every day by chemical and surgical abortions. 

Over the past several months, Live Action has facilitated over 75,000 contacts to members of Congress from their constituents asking them to defund Planned Parenthood, while also inspiring a powerful coalition letter from national leaders saying the same. 

I urge every member of Congress and the President to investigate the atrocities of Planned Parenthood and defund every dollar they receive from taxpayers. Defund Planned Parenthood now.” 

Representative Greene’s letter highlights that 39% of the organization’s revenue comes from federal funds meant for essential health services like cancer screenings, yet it performed over 400,000 abortions, a 23% increase over the past decade. It also mentions Planned Parenthood’s continuation of performing late-term abortions on healthy children and mothers and the disturbing practice of organ harvesting for experimentation. 

The DOGE committee requests non-public Planned Parenthood’s financial statements for the past five years, related documents, and a briefing to aid the probe.
