Coalition Urges Congress to Pass the Reconciliation Bill that will Defund Planned Parenthood.

House Passes; Senate to Vote on Bill in Coming Weeks

Washington, D.C. – Today, Live Action, one of the nation’s leading human rights organizations, along with more than 25 pro-life and pro-family organizations and advocates, signed a letter exhorting Senate Majority Leader John Thune and all U.S. senators to pass the reconciliation bill now in front of them, with a provision to defund Planned Parenthood. This comes on the heels of the House of Representatives passing the bill with that provision this morning. 

Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, signed the coalition letter and released the following statement:

“Planned Parenthood is committing unconscionable abuse, killing over 400,000 preborn children each year, and now pushing potentially sterilizing trans drugs on vulnerable minors, all while receiving almost $800 million in federal funding. No organization that profits from the destruction and mutilation of children should receive a single cent of taxpayer money.”

The coalition letter shares information about Planned Parenthood’s so-called healthcare services beyond abortion, including offering trans hormones to minors. 

Today, Planned Parenthood is the second leading provider of transgender hormones in the nation. Live Action’s latest undercover report has revealed a horrific reality: Planned Parenthood facilities across the country are prescribing life-altering cross-sex hormones to minors as young as 16 years old, without requiring therapy, a mental health evaluation, or prior documentation. Known to cause sterilization, stunted growth, and irreversible physical and psychological harm, these experimental drugs are even being dispensed virtually, often on the same day an appointment is requested.

In addition to Rose, signers include prominent speaker Riley Gaines, detransitioner Chloe Cole, and physicians Dr. Eithan Haim, Dr. Kathi Aultman, and Dr. John Bruchalski. National organizations such as Human Coalition, Students for Life of America, the Ethics and Public Policy Center, and the Christian Medical and Dental Association signed on as well. 

The letter concludes by commending Speaker Mike Johnson and House representatives for passing the bill earlier today. 

Rose continued, “I applaud Speaker Johnson and the House for passing this critical bill. Now the Senate must act immediately to defund Planned Parenthood. Anything less is complicity.”
