Ohio State University ‘Sex Week’ encourages students to make valentines for abortionists

Ohio State

Several campus departments are sponsoring “Sex Week” activities at Ohio State University, and among the events is an activity that encourages students to send valentines as a way to thank abortionists.

According to Fox News, the week-long event is slated to run from February 13-19. It’s being hosted by the Student Advocates for Sexual Health Awareness (SASHA), a campus organization, but receives financial support from several university departments, including the Ohio State University Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, the College of Public Health, and the College of Social Work. Additionally, the “Sex Week” website indicates that it receives funding from student activity fees, and from NARAL Pro-Choice America.

While nearly all of the “Sex Week” events are likely to raise eyebrows, one that stands out in particular is an activity where students are encouraged to make valentines for abortionists. According to the event’s description, students should “Meet SASHA in the Union on the 1st floor to help thank abortion providers in Ohio and Texas for the valuable work they do for reproductive rights!” Other pro-abortion activities include a panel discussion on how students can fight for their reproductive rights, and an open-mic social where all funds raised will go to support Texas abortionists.

“We feel that it is important to appreciate the family planning providers that are able to provide essential healthcare for our communities. Our organization emphasizes the constitutional right to a safe abortion, however many do not share that belief. Because of this, many providers and their offices are often ridiculed for providing legal, affordable, safe healthcare. We feel they deserve appreciation, and should be reminded of the fact they are assisting our communities greatly,” Sky Hart, president of Student Advocates for Sexual Health Awareness, told Fox News Digital.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, decried the event. “It’s pathetic that schools are ignoring their mandate to educate students and instead act as though their real purpose is facilitating the parties. This is a great disservice to students. And a huge waste of money for parents,” she told Fox News. “Almost always ignored by these sponsors is the fact that you can’t protect emotionally vulnerable students from a broken heart when they follow the false pitch that all consequences — babies included — can be ignored.”
