This morning, the Live Action team and I woke up with fresh resolve. Today our goal remains the same as it’s always been: end abortion in our lifetime, and create a nation that values and respects every human life. We will fearlessly proclaim the beautiful truth that every child is a gift – and that no nation can have peace if we kill the most vulnerable among us. And we will only intensify our work at Live Action, playing our crucial role in exposing the violence and abusive activity at abortion clinics across the country and world.
Over the past four years, even with the most pro-abortion president in history, we saw historic gains in the pro-life movement. It is important to recognize all of the progress of the last four years, despite the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history. Live Action’s explosive investigations and campaigns have helped lead to state defundings of Planned Parenthood, firings of employees, media firestorms, legal action, and massive public engagement. Abortion was front and center many times during this past presidential campaign and this has only helped us build a platform to move forward in the battle to protect life.
We must continue to shape the debate, stay on the offensive, and expose the many injustices and abuses of the abortion industry and lobby, both in our nation and around the world. Live Action is preparing to implement a strategy that was created long before the results were called last night. I cannot share too much at this time, but a word to Planned Parenthood: the days for your abortion machine are numbered. We will work on the local level, the state level, in every community, to expose the medical misinformation, the coercion, sexual trafficking, sexual abuse cover up, sex-selective abortion and all the other abusive activity that is common-place in your industry.
Every challenge is an opportunity. In the history of social reform movements, great tension brings about some of the greatest change. Barack Obama’s re-election will only increase the tension beneath the surface that exists in our country and impassion millions of people who demand a nation that respects fundamental human rights. Person by person, we will continue building momentum to make sure every human life is protected legally and to change hearts and minds. For the public, politicians, the media, we will expose abortion – especially through industry leader Planned Parenthood – for the violence that it is.
We must stand together now and over the coming years, and courageously, we will finish the work we started, one person at a time.
