Facing a (currently blocked) federal Medicaid defunding and attempting to garner more support in the fight to end preborn lives, one Planned Parenthood affiliate has launched a marketing effort to recruit the favor of men. Moving away from the “no uterus, no opinion” mantra of years past, the affiliate is promoting “Bros for Repro.”
Key Takeaways:
- Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia, Inc. has launched “Bros for Repro” to pull men into its fight for unlimited abortion.
- PPAVA is working with male Virginia legislators — one of whom is a pastor — to influence other men to support all access abortion.
- Fathers have an incredible influence over a mother’s decision to abort or keep and parent their baby.
- Research shows that whether negative or positive, the male partner’s feelings and reaction to a pregnancy play a major role in a woman’s abortion decision.
- Planned Parenthood knows the men hold this influence and want to abuse it to increase abortions.
The Details:
In July, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia, Inc. (PPAVA) — a statewide abortion advocacy group that aims to “preserve and broaden access” to abortion via legislation, public education, stumping for pro-abortion candidates, and litigation — launched “Bros for Repro.”
According to a PPAVA Instagram post, “’Bros for Repro’ is designed to amplify the voices of men who champion reproductive rights and bodily autonomy — not just as allies, but as active leaders in the movement.”
“We will host Instagram Lives, phonebanks, canvass launches, and community events to mobilize supporters ahead of the fall election,” the post adds. “Stay tuned for more.”
The effort to reach men is likely part of the broader agenda to pass a constitutional amendment that would allow abortion through all 40 weeks of pregnancy. Pro-abortion groups in Virginia have been working to advance such an amendment, with the latest attempt planned for the 2026 election year.
The text of the amendment states, “in no circumstances shall the Commonwealth prohibit an abortion (i) that in the professional judgment of a physician is medically indicated to protect the life or physical or mental health of the pregnant individual or (ii) when in the professional judgment of a physician the fetus is not viable.”
This broad language intentionally creates a loophole to allow abortion through all 40 weeks of pregnancy for virtually any reason under the auspices of “mental health” — and possibly even “physical health.”

Why it Matters:
Signed on for “Bros for Repro” are Del. Nadarus Clark (HD 84), Del. Josh Cole (HD 65), Del. Mike Feggans (HD 91), Del. Phil Hernandez (HD 94), and Del. Josh Thomas (HD 21). Cole and Thomas appeared on WRIC ABC 8News to discuss the Planned Parenthood campaign to reach men.
In his statement, Cole — also reportedly a pastor — appeared to assert that killing preborn children is a “sacred… choice,” egregiously using the language of faith and religion to promote the intentional killing of innocent human beings.

“And so I would just ask that we speak up, we show up, and we relentlessly stand up for the dignity and the sacred choice every soul, every person, and affirming that justice is holy, freedom is sacred, and real love honors choice,” said Cole.
Killing innocent human beings (made in the image of God, according to the Bible) is an injustice. Ending another human being’s life is not an acceptable way another human being asserts his or her “freedom.” And real love seeks the ultimate good of another human being — which neither includes encouraging mothers and fathers to end the lives of their own children, nor the killing of those children.
This is not holy. This is not sacred. It is not something to “honor,” nor does it reflect “real love”:
Cole and his cohorts are essentially encouraging men not to stand up for the lives of their children, and instead to assert their own freedom and choice to pressure women — which is the best tactic there is in getting women to ‘choose’ abortion even when they want to choose life.
Here are some facts that show just how coercive this messaging is:
- Statistically, a woman is more likely to have an abortion if she feels she doesn’t have the support of the father. Research has shown that the baby’s father has the most influence over a woman’s abortion decision.
- A Lifeway Research survey of 1,000 men whose partners had an abortion found that 54% of the men had encouraged or urged abortion and 31% of men gave no advice — leaving women to feel the fathers were indifferent or that they were alone in their so-called “freedom to choose.”
- A 2021 study revealed, “Whether negative or positive, the partner’s reaction to the pregnancy is significant across the young women’s accounts… The baby’s father was the first person they tell of their pregnancy, and across the stories, the young women’s decision about whether to abort or carry on was influenced by the partner’s feelings and reactions.”
- Another study found that teens who had abortions did so because of pressure placed on them by other people – either by their parents or the father of the baby. Two of the 11 teens who aborted said that they did so because the babies’ fathers wanted them to.
The Bottom Line:
Planned Parenthood wants pro-life men to be silent while pro-abortion men pressure women into abortions they may not want. It knows that women are heavily influenced by their partners when it comes to pregnancy, abortion, and parenthood.
The Radiance Foundation, a pro-life organization founded by Ryan Bomberger, commented on the PPAVA Instagram post, explaining, “Nothing says ‘bros’ like a bunch of dudes defending a recently defunded corrupt two-billion-dollar abortion biz as they push for violence against women and their unborn children. Be #BroLife instead.”
