As tens of thousands marched for life in DC, mainstream media promoted abortion

According to Newsbusters, as tens of thousands of pro-lifers rallied for life in Washington, D.C. on Friday for the March for Life, major television networks turned a blind eye. While this treatment is par for the course, it’s what they chose to promote in its place that has people talking.

“The Friday evening and Saturday morning shows for ABC, NBC, and CBS all ignored Friday’s 51st annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. where thousands turned out in the cold and the snow to protest the killing of the unborn,” reported Alex Christy. “Friday’s NBC Nightly News was the worst offender because not only did they ignore pro-lifers, they actively promoted pro-abortion high schoolers.”

Christy explained that NBC Nightly News chose not to report on the March but to report instead on high school seniors and their decision-making process regarding where to attend college. Reporter Savannah Sellers spoke with a family whose daughter Grace is in the middle of the college admissions process. Sellers said, “School ranking, academics, tuition costs, all factors in the big decision of picking a college but for South Carolina high school senior Grace, add the state’s abortion laws.”

Grace explained that she is “not comfortable being in a state that doesn’t value who I am or value my rights as a person.”

The problem with this outlook is that abortion advocates and the abortion industry don’t value women or children. Abortion pits them against each other and feeds women the lie that mothers can’t be successful in their chosen careers or on their educational paths. Under a completely anti-feminist mindset, abortion sends the message that women are less valuable than men simply because of their fertility, and that they have to kill their preborn children to attain equality with men.

Newsbusters also reported that the following morning on Today, NBC failed to report on the March for Life again, but “did find 49 seconds to devote to Green Day’s new album.”

In addition, neither ABC’s World News Tonight and Good Morning America mentioned the March or the fact that Jim Harbaugh — a well-known winning college football coach — was at the March, according to Newsbusters. Likewise, CBS Evening News and CBS Saturday Morning both neglected to cover the March.

While the major media outlets have largely ignored the March for Life in past years, in 2022, multiple news outlets covered the march in anticipation of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling that was expected from the Supreme Court in the following months. It was less than four months later that the draft decision in Dobbs was leaked, signaling that the court would overturn Roe, which it finally did in June of 2022.

The DOJ put a pro-life grandmother in jail this Christmas for protesting the killing of preborn children. Please take 30-seconds to TELL CONGRESS: STOP THE DOJ FROM TARGETING PRO-LIFE AMERICANS.
