Abortionist at Oregon facility made $300,000 working 20 hours a week

money, abortion

Lovejoy Surgicenter was Portland’s oldest abortion facility, operating for nearly 50 years until it closed this year. It may reopen under new management, but for now, no babies are being killed at Lovejoy.

A book, “Lovejoy: A Year in the Life of An Abortion Clinic,” published in 1996, reveals the large amounts of money abortionists at Lovejoy were making during that time, noting that abortionist Harold Suchak earned over $300,000 a year at Lovejoy while working there only 15-20 hours a week. He also moonlighted at other abortion facilities while working at Lovejoy, further increasing his income. According to the book, he and other abortionists made $600 for each dilation and evacuation (D&E) dismemberment abortion they committed.

A D&E is the most commonly used second-trimester abortion and involves dismembering the child in the womb and pulling him or her out piece by piece with forceps. Former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino discusses a D&E procedure in the video below:

The book also reveals that Suchak and the other abortionists were paid per abortion. This means that the more abortions they committed, the more money they made. This payment model incentivizes abortionists to rush through abortion procedures because the more women they can push through in a day, the more money they can make. It doesn’t encourage doctors to take the time to be careful, but to quickly abort one baby after another in pursuit of profits.

According to the book:

For years Suchak’s private practice demanded 60-to-80-hour work weeks. In addition, an obstetrician’s career can be guaranteed to make demands at all hours of the day and night; childbirth does not stick to a 9-to-5 schedule. Suchak recognized that working as an abortion doctor is about the only way an OB/GYN can achieve regular work hours. There were few middle of the night emergencies, since all surgeries are done by appointment…

As medical director, Suchak could set his own schedule and by taking the more difficult and expensive second-trimester abortions he could manage a 20-hour workweek and still earn over $300,000 a year…(1)

The book further reveals that Suchak sometimes only worked 15 hours a week.

Obviously, being an abortionist is far more convenient and easier than practicing legitimate medicine. And yet, only 14% of OB/GYNs are willing to commit abortions. (2) It seems that most doctors don’t want to kill babies, even if the pay is good.

Suchak isn’t alone in his financial gains from abortion. Live Action News previously reported former abortion facility owner Carol Everett’s statement that abortionists at her facilities made $6,000 an hour committing late-term abortions. Another Live Action News article presented 10 quotes from abortionists revealing how profitable the abortion industry is for doctors, including one abortion worker who said, “Every single transaction that we did was cash money. We wouldn’t take a check, or even a credit card. If you didn’t have the money, forget it. It wasn’t unusual for me to take $10,000 or $15,000 a day to the bank – in cash.”
