Canadian pro-life activist Mary Wagner was convicted of trespassing and interference with the operation of a business, according to LifeSiteNews, after she was arrested in April for entering an abortion facility to speak with women about their options.
“This conviction is nothing I am ashamed of,” she said on Facebook. “On the contrary, I am pleased that the court has found there is enough evidence to conclude that I interfered with the business of destroying helpless unborn children, who remain unprotected and abandoned by the courts.”
Wagner has been in jail since her arrest on April 17, 2019, at Everywoman’s Health Center in Vancouver. She and a fellow activist walked into the abortion facility holding red and white roses with a Miraculous Medal and a pro-life message attached to each one. They planned to hand the roses to the expectant mothers inside the facility and speak with them about the alternatives to abortion. Police were called and Wagner refused to leave.
“Mary said, ‘I’m going to stay with the babies’ and she knelt down, and I knelt down,” the other activist known as Baby Jane Doe explained to LifeSiteNews at the time. Wagner was charged with “mischief, obstructing the lawful use of property.”

Wagner was refused bail because she would not comply with the order to stay away from abortion facilities. This was not the first arrest for Wagner, who has spent a total of about five years in jail for attempting to save babies from abortion, according to LifeSiteNews.
Defense attorney Peter Boushy told LifeSiteNews that Wagner was sentenced to time served and had already been in jail for more than the maximum sentence allowed for the conviction she received. Judge Mark Jette told Wagner that he knows she is a “good person.” The Crown had asked for three years of probation and 30 days of community service, but the court gave Wagner two years of probation and no community service.
“I’m satisfied that you give back to the community on a daily basis,” Jette told Wagner. “It’s in your DNA.”
Boushy told LifeSiteNews that he had never heard a judge speak with such praise of a defendant before, and that Jette called Wagner a “warrior.”
