Take the quiz: Gosnell vs. other abortionists

gosnell-questionDr. Kermit Gosnell went to jail for killing babies born alive after abortions he performed at his filthy abortion clinic in Philadelphia. The testimony given at the trial was gruesome and disturbing. But was it representative of what normally happens at abortion clinics?

I have put together the following quiz. Some of these quotes are from testimony in the Gosnell case. Others are from the partial-birth abortion ban trials. In the partial-birth abortion ban trials, practicing abortionists were asked to describe what they do every day in their clinics. See if you can tell the difference between what went on a Gosnell’s clinic and what goes on legally, in our country, every day.

1.

A. … but later on I plunge and some particles came up.

Q. What kind of particles?…

A. Like a arm or something like that, leg.

2.

Q: “An affidavit I saw earlier said sometimes, I take it, the fetus is alive until they crush the skull?”

A: “That’s correct, yes, sir.”

3.

A: It is, in my experience and my opinion, less risky to put a hole in the base of the skull. Because the contents of the skull are liquid the skull contents may often drain out spontaneously as soon as there is a hole in the skull.

4.

Q. “The head would be crushed and the fetus removed.” And you said that the purpose of this crushing the skull would be to lessen the pain for the mother; correct?

A. Correct, because the head has to come through the cervix and that’s usually the largest part and that could be very painful.

5.

A: So I can lift the cervix, look at the back of the neck, and then a scissors, which we have on our operating table, and make an incision in the back of the fetal neck.

6.

Q: “What did they utilize to crush the head?”

A: “An instrument, a large pair of forceps that have a round, serrated edge at the end of it, so that they were able to bring them together and crush the head between the ends of the instrument.”

7.

A: “The procedures that I have observed, they all used a crushing instrument to deliver the head.”

8.

A. Well, number one, I like to interrupt the umbilical cord. Number two, we are working on a young gestation, but that’s not to do it. And we break up parts in the uterus and we crush skulls.

9.

A:….But, certainly, when an upper extremity comes through the vagina, and I have to remove it, at that point — the shoulder, the shoulder joint actually tends to be more substantial than other joints in the body. So mostly if I can grab above the elbow, I will get part of the scapula, and sometimes even part of the chest wall from that extremity; ribs, and possibly even lung tissue or other tissue inside of the chest cavity.

10.

Q. In the case of a feet-first delivery, the fetus would be delivered up to the neck with the head remaining inside the mother. At that time a catheter would be inserted into the skull of the fetus and the brain would be evacuated. Correct?

A. Correct.
