Live Action’s Lila Rose joins pro-life CPAC panel discussing ‘war on humanity’

Lila Rose

In President Trump’s 2019 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) speech, he took aim at Democrats for their “extreme” pro-abortion agenda as well as the U.S. Senate for its failure to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. He stated, “Democrats are embracing open borders, socialism, and extreme late-term abortion.” Following this, a panel of pro-life individuals took to the main stage to discuss the importance of the sanctity of life.

Live Action founder and president Lila Rose joined abortion survivor and pro-disability right speaker Gianna Jessen and author/attorney David Limbaugh on a panel billed as, “Left for Dead: Are There No Limits to the Progressive War on Humanity?” The panel was moderated by attorney Catherine Glenn Foster, CEO of Americans United for Life.

Broad in scope, the panelists spoke on where the pro-life movement is going, on personal experiences, and on how Americans feel about abortion.

The panel began with Jessen speaking of her personal experience of being an abortion survivor. Jessen’s biological mother went to a Planned Parenthood to abort her daughter via a late-term saline infusion abortion, which Jessen explains “burn[s] the baby inside and out.” She then elaborated by explaining in great detail that if her abortionist would have gotten to the abortion facility any earlier, she would have been killed by “strangulation, suffocation, or left there to die.”

“If abortion is about women’s rights, then what were mine?” Jessen asked.

Jessen further explained that she has cerebral palsy but views life as a “gift from God.” Jessen said,“I am alive by the sheer power of Jesus Christ… he is how I overcome and where I find my value.” Jessen said she is “absolutely horrified” by what is going on in the United States, and cast blame on both Republican and Democrats for not working to end late-term abortions.

“We have some bloodthirsty Democrats and leftists, and apathetic Christians and conservatives,” argued Jessen, adding that “many, many, many” women who are conservative are fearful of sharing that they had an abortion.

David Limbaugh pointed out that this war against abortion is a “spiritual war…” while arguing that a partial-birth abortion is “dark-hearted.” He warned conservatives not to stop fighting or become complacent. Limbaugh stated that he believes those on the political left use words to mask what they truly believe. They are not “pro-choice,” he said. “That is a euphemism. They are pro-death.”

Live Action president Lila Rose spoke to recent polling that shows the number of Americans identifying as pro-life has increased by nine points over a single month, noting that “a lot of people who are pro-choice want abortion restricted because they have a sense of the humanity for the child.”

“When people actually learn these facts, when they learn what abortion actually does to that child,” she said, “minds change on the issue.”

Later in the panel, Rose spoke to the impact of Planned Parenthood, including how they receive billions and have tentacles in our schools, entertainment, and tech — and they have friends in traditional media outlets as well. “They hold so many strongholds, and they are back up by government dollars, they are spending over a billion dollars a year, from us!” Rose said.

Rose added that Planned Parenthood needs to be shut down. “The reality is, I think we are not made to kill others. We are not made to look at a new life as a negative thing, but as a gift. We are made to celebrate life and celebrate each other’s lives and to see a child as an opportunity, not as a threat. And to see motherhood as a blessing, not as a curse.”
