Illegal pro-abortion sex ed curriculum proposed in Missouri

Liberty Counsel has taken up the fight against a Planned Parenthood-backed sex education curriculum proposed for use in Parkway School District of Chesterfield, Missouri.

Liberty warns that “Healthy Relationships and Sexual Health Curriculum Frameworks,” which is promoted by Planned Parenthood’s youth division Teen Advocates for Sexual Health, “make[s] numerous website referrals to abortion providers,” as does Teen Pregnancy Prevention Partnership, another organization which provides educational resources to Parkway.

Planned Parenthood of St. Louis and Southwest Missouri, which operates all the locations TPPP lists, is also an “organizational member” of TPPP.

Liberty reviewed the materials after being contacted by a concerned parent, and subsequently sent the school district a letter notifying officials that adopting the curriculum would violate state law, which forbids schools from using “any course materials or instruction relating to human sexuality or sexually transmitted diseases to its students” created or provided by “a provider of abortion services.”

The letter further notes that another group identified as a resource by the curriculum, Advocates for Youth, opposes parental notification for minors’ abortions.

“The innocence of our children is under assault in the public schools,” Liberty Counsel Chair Mat Staver said. “Thank goodness for parents like those at Parkway School District who are concerned enough to stand up and speak out. It is time for America’s public schools to return to the essentials of learning rather than be participants in a sexualized agenda.”
