Live Action Fights YouTube Censorship


YouTube has censored two Live Action undercover videos showing sex trafficking at Planned Parenthood, alleging the videos violate YouTube's privacy guidelines. The guidelines provide a clear exception for content that is of "public interest" and "newsworthy." YouTube recognized this exception during a similar controversy with one of our videos in February. YouTube has recently threatened to ban a third video and then relented after we pointed out the discrepancy.

Live Action's legal advisors have carefully laid out the case below why it is unfair to ban our videos based on spurious allegations of violating YouTube's privacy guidelines. If YouTube allows the censorship to stand, it will not the first time they have arbitrarily censored pro-life content, or the last. Please sign the petition below and help us put public pressure on YouTube to demand these videos be restored.

Dear YouTube:

We are concerned that YouTube staff is censoring videos based on ideology, despite YouTube's claim to provide "a forum for people to connect, inform, and inspire others." Our concern has been prompted by YouTube's recent censorship of two undercover videos that gained national and international media attention.

The following letters were sent to YouTube by Live Action's legal counsel requesting these videos be restored:

YouTube has already twice recognized that Live Action's undercover videos meet the "public interest" and "newsworthiness" criteria in its own privacy guidelines. We ask YouTube to restore its customers' trust and live up to its own privacy guidelines by doing the following:

1. Promptly reinstate both banned videos.

2. Assure Live Action and the YouTube's community that YouTube is truly opposed to ideological censorship and is taking steps to prevent this from happening again.

3. Provide Live Action with an email and phone contact representative at YouTube to ensure that any future issues are resolved promptly.
